The NASCAR Hall of Fame in downtown Charlotte, N.C., is set to open with induction ceremonies for its first class on May 11, 2010. Here are some fast facts about the Hall:

  • It is 130,000 square feet including the Hall of Fame, an entertainment attraction and museum.
  • There will be 40,000 square feet of exhibition space.
  • The Hall of Fame will be attached to a convention center and a 19-story office tower called NASCAR Plaza.
  • The Hall of Honor is where the Hall of Fame inductees will be featured.
  • A 270-seat theater will feature a film on the history of NASCAR.
  • “Glory Road” will be a banked ramp to the second floor that will feature historic cars and racetracks.
  • There will be a racing simulator.
  • A glass-enclosed section will display historic artifacts.
  • The facility will include television and radio studios.
  • There will be a memorial for drivers who have died.
  • Restaurant and retail outlets are included.
