There hasn’t been a whole lot going down on the NBA beat this week.

Kobe Bryant has decided to forgo finger surgery, but other than that, it’s been pretty quiet on the injury front.

As far as transactions, Doc Rivers and Maurice Cheeks have had their contacts extended, which is nice to see. All of the turnover in the professional coaching ranks tends to make me  nauseous in the offseason.

It should be interested to see what the Celtics and Sixers can do this season. Las Vegas has tabbed Boston to repeat as NBA champions, while Philly has a revamped roster that includes free-agent forward Elton Brand.

Oh yeah, and Shaquille O’Neal is considering hanging it up in 2010. Speaking of Shaq “Kobe, tell me how my @$$ taste?” O’Neal, the Suns come to L.A. on Dec. 10 - one of the many games you Lakers fans will want to circle on your 2008-09 calendars this season.
