You got through the holidays and before you know it; Valentine's Day. Maybe you don't want to be in an intimate relationship right now ,or maybe you long for one.

However, here you are faced with hearts and flowers wherever you turn which might bring up just a little angst. You can have a sense of humor and pass out some Bittersweets Valentines: Candies for the dysfunctional. I am partial to the heart that says, "Call a shrink."

There are many ways to enjoy and honor love in your life even if you do not have a significant other.

  • Give a card to a close friend or family member.
  • Get together with other single friends and celebrate your friendships.
  • I knew someone who gave her single friends a present from her dog. It was less mushy and they really appreciated the gesture.
  • Call someone you have not talked to in ages ,but would like to reconnect with.
  • Do something nice for yourself.
