Singer Chris Brown will tell his side of the story about the assault that occurred between him and his then girlfriend Rihanna, in an interview on MTV to air November 6th. According to The Insider, Brown asks himself, "What was I thinking? Why did it happen? ... What was wrong with you?"
Brown has been open about being from a family in which domestic violence occurred and his surprise about his own behavior. Not unlike Rihanna ,who wants to help others in similar situations , Brown stated in his interview, "How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation ... and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?"
For both Brown and Rihanna their stories can be powerful for others, only if what they share is their choice and would benefit their own healing. Because they are entertainers and want to continue in their profession, they do risk further exploitation by those who need to "handle the spin" of their private lives. It is probably not coincidental that both performers stories are being aired this week. Rihanna's in Glamour Magazine and in an interview with Diane Sawyer and Brown's MTV interview.
