Between now and May 11, 2009, when you sponsor a child through Compassion International, receive a $25 gift card from Christianbook.com (www.cbd.com).

I’ve been sponsoring children through Compassion International for twenty years.  It began when I moved to the coast to escape some bad times.  I found a condo to rent with a view of the marina in Hollywood Beach, California and settled in with my dog, my new job, and all that could fit into my rusted but really cool 1966 green Mustang.

Yet life was empty and I soon realized that getting more stuff wasn’t filling me up the way I’d hoped.  I soon learned about the mission of Compassion International—to advocate for children, releasing them from the bonds of poverty—and decided to get involved.

For a $32 tax-deductible contribution per month, a child in need receives education, health care, nutritious meals, a safe place to play, and the opportunity to learn about God.  Compassion International has campuses serving more than one million children in four regions of the world: Africa, Central America & the Caribbean, South America and Asia.

Since signing up for sponsorship all those years ago, I’ve gotten married, had three children, adopted a new dog, and as a family, we have continuously supported the work of this reputable organization.  Maybe you’ve been thinking about helping a child, but weren’t sure of the steps to take.  As someone who has received dozens of letters over the years from our sponsored children, I can recommend Compassion International and the work they do.

Why not sign up today?  Be sure to do so before May 11 to receive your free gift from CBD.com.
