WALNUT CREEK, CA - Washington State University men's basketball sophomore Klay Thompson had been named the Pac-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 16-22, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.

Thompson, who hails from Ladera Ranch, CA, led the Cougars to a pair of victories over Eastern Washington and IPFW last week. He averaged 30.5 points per game, accounting for 39 percent of the team's points. He also added 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in the two wins.

In a 67-61 win over Eastern Washington last Monday, Thompson scored 24 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.

In the 89-70 victory over IPFW, he scored a career-high 37 points, shooting 15-of-20 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

His 37-point performance ties Thompson for 10th on the Cougars' all-time list for points scored in a game, and is the most points by a Cougar player since J. Locklier scored 40 points in March 2002.

For the season, Thompson is leading the Pac-10 conference in points scored, averaging 27 a game. He has attempting 28 free throws, making 22, in three games this season. Klay is getting to the free throw line much more this year when compared to last season when he attempted 31 free throws in 33 games.

This is the first weekly honor for Thompson and Washington State's 20th all-time Player of the Week.

Also Nominated: Nikola Vucevic, USC; Quincy Pondexter, WASH
