Planning family meals on a daily basis can be overwhelming and tedious if left to just one person. That's why every member needs to get involved.
Compile a list by having each person think of a minimum of three meals they'd like to have for dinner. Then at the beginning of the week assign one night per person. Make a shopping list based on the ingredients needed and that's it.
What to do if your four year old's request includes chicken nuggets? Try baking them instead of frying and serve them with baked sweet potato fries.
Is there an entree from a favorite restaurant on the list? See if you can come up with a healthier rival. Picky eaters can now complain directly to the person who chose the menu instead of you, or perhaps a little magic will happen as siblings convince others to try something they wouldn't dream of eating.
The person who chose the meal is given first dibs on leftovers for lunch--yet one less meal to think about.
It's nice to let someone else make the decisions every now and then. Kids, especially love this aspect of it.
