If you like art and animals, this is your chance to get some great original paintings and help raise money for our furry friends at the same time.
On Thursday, September 11, animal artist BZTAT, a.k.a. Vicki Boatright, will be donating her time and talent to do a 12-hour paint-a-thon, painting as many animal masterpieces as she can during that time.
All the original art she paints during her paint-a-thon will then be auctioned off in an online silent auction with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward the Friends of Stark Pound in Canton, Ohio, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to coordinate community outreach, adoption and fund-raising efforts for the puppies and dogs being held in the Stark County Dog Pound.
The auction will be held via the popular networking site, Twitter.
"I have a large following of animal enthusiasts in the Stark County area and throughout the world through Twitter," Boatright said. "Many of these folks are involved in animal rescue groups. They have helped get my artwork seen in many venues, and I felt that this was a small way that I could return the favor and 'pay it forward.'
"I have worked with the FOSP volunteers, and I know that they do great work for the dogs at the pound."
It's all part of the "Art of Kindness" event being held all day to help find homes for some of the pound pets and raise money to help them get the supplies, medical care and adoption support they need.
To follow the paintings live as they're being masterpieced and to bid on them, use the search term #bztatptg on Twitter.
The auction will start at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. EST. Bids will be accepted in $5 increments and shipping to U.S. address will be free. International shipping is also available, but will have to be paid by the buyer.
