While most of the sports world is focused on the World Series, the NFL continues to cruise along into week 8, which is almost the halfway point of the season. Last week I went 9-4 for a season total of 69-34. Here are my picks for week 8.

Ravens over the Broncos – Both of these teams are coming off of bye weeks so preparation and health should not be that much of an issue. The Broncos have played like one of the best teams in the AFC, but face a tough schedule in the second half of the season. I am going to take a hungry Ravens team, playing at home, that is desperate to get back to their winning ways. Ravens 20-17
Texans over the Bills- The Texans are the NFL’s version of Jekyll and Hyde, as one week they look unstoppable, and the next they fall apart. The Bills somehow found a way to beat the woeful Carolina Panthers, but I am not buying into Ryan Fitzpatrick as a legitimate starting quarterback. Texans 24-13
Bears over the Browns- I do not think the question is if Chicago will win, rather it is by how many? The Browns are pathetic and the fan base deserves a lot better, regardless if the organization is trying to rebuild or not. When will Eric Mangini fine himself for incompetent moves? Bears 31-6
Cowboys over the Seahawks- If it were not for a decimated offensive line, I would take Seattle in this game. I am just not sold on the Cowboys but they find a way to win this game. Cowboys 21-17
Colts over the 49ers- The Colts are just a juggernaut at this point, especially playing at home. The 49ers will be a game opponent, but do not have enough weapons to keep up. Colts 34-17
Eagles over the Giants- What a day in Philadelphia, Giants vs. Eagles during the day, Yankees vs. Phillies at night. What is the over/under for arrests? The Eagles will more than likely be without running back Brian Westbrook, which will put a lot of pressure on Donovan McNabb and LeSean McCoy. Eli Manning started the season strong but has faded as of late. I will take the aggressive Eagles playing at home, in front of a raucous crowd. Eagles 21-20
Lions over the Rams- This game could be considered the Super Bowl for both of these teams. The weak in heart and mind should steer clear. Lions 21-10
Chargers over the Raiders- While this battle between AFC West rivals has always been close over the years, the Raiders are just awful. Look for the Chargers to take it to the Raiders early and often. Chargers 38-17
Titans over the Jaguars- Another game where both teams are coming off of a bye week. This game could end up being very physical as the Titans are desperate for their first victory, while Jacksonville is trying to stay in the playoff hunt. Going to take the home team, who will play with an insurmountable amount of pride. Titans 21-17
Packers over the Vikings- Favre Bowl II. The media hype around this game will be out of control and it will be interesting to see how the classy and loyal Green Bay fans treat Lord Brett. Looking back at the first game between these two rivals, the Packers were a play or two away from wining the game. This week the Pack takes advantage of the home field advantage and a Viking team that can be a bit careless on the offensive side of the ball. Packers 28-24
Cardinals over the Panthers- The Panthers are slowly becoming a team in turmoil as the losses are racking up, as are the interceptions that are being thrown by Jake Delhomme. The Cardinals are starting to find their stride, especially on offense. Cardinals 27-14
Saints over the Falcons- A victory here for the Saints could give them a three-game lead in the division and leave Atlanta scrambling for a wildcard playoff spot. It is tough to pick against the Saints at home, so I won’t. Saints 31-21

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
This game has the makings to be a very competitive, physical battle between two teams that clearly do not like each other. Three weeks ago the Dolphins and their “wildcat” offense ran all over the Jets defense, salvaging their season on Monday Night Football. This week Miami needs to continue their winning ways to keep any hope of a playoff chance alive, while Gang Green needs a victory to stay in the division title hunt. I look for the Jets defense, backed by a boisterous crowd, to find a way to stifle the Dolphin running game. Mark Sanchez will outplay Chad Henne in the matchup between young quarterbacks. Jets 24-20
