Jason Reid of The Washington Post reported today that former Texans assistant coach Tim Hightower has joined the Redskins as assistant coach/special teams.
Hightower was a special teams assistant with the Texans in 2008, helping coach Joe Marciano with game preparation and practice. Hightower left the Texans last February to coach wide receivers at the University of Minnesota.
In 2006-07, Hightower was a defensive assistant for the Texans, working with Marciano and former defensive backs coach Jon Hoke.
Before joining the Texans coaching staff, Hightower worked for two years on the business side of the Texans operations as a sales intern and corporate sales event coordinator.
Hightower is the second former Texans assistant coach to follow Kyle Shanahan to D.C. Matt LaFleur left Houston last month to join the Redskins staff as quarterbacks coach.
It looks like young Kyle is building his support staff just in case he becomes a head coach some day. LaFleur and Hightower are now well positioned for the future, provided the Redskins turn things around under the elder Shanny.
