Houstontexans.com has reported that the Texans have waived running back Clifton Dawson and wide receiver Aubrey Bell.

Both players were extreme long shots to make the squad and caught in a numbers game.

Dawson, who suffered a MCL sprain on the first day of training camp. was sixth on the RB depth chart and was released to make room for Brian Cushing on the 80 man roster.

Bell was one of ten wide receivers on the roster and fell victim to the Turk when the Texans signed Jeff Zgonina to shore up a gimpy defensive tackle group, .

The Texans roster now stands at the league maximum of 80.  Travis Johnson and Antwaun Molden remain on PUP but count against the 80 during preseason.

Molden has been watching practice from the sideline and shows no obvious sign that he is still bothered by the broken ankle he suffered in December.  But the physical demands of walking around in shorts and playing NFL cornerback are two entirely different things so the coaches are playing it safe with him.
