Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com is reporting that the Texans have signed former Colts linebacker Buster Davis.
Davis is one of three former Colts backers scheduled to visit the Texans this week.
I have to admit that I know little about Davis other than what I've picked up on Google searches. Maybe the fine folks at Florida State or Indy can chime in on what to expect out of this 5-9, 239 lb bowling ball.
In the meantime, here's a few tidbits I picked up on Davis while poking around the net:
On his release from the Cardinals from mockingthedraft.com:
"After a slow start in [2007] training camp, Davis was eventually released, but in an interesting turn of events he refused to be resigned by the Cardinals to their practice squad. Eventually he would sign to a practice squad, though it was with Detroit, and then immediately upon being released by Detroit he was picked up by the Colts."
Some thoughts by 'BigBlue Shoe' on why Davis might have been released by Detroit from stampedeblue.com: (Someone needs to ask Dan Orlovsky about this)
"A rumor I have heard circling about has to do with Buster getting into a fight with Detroit's now-injured QB, Jon Kitna."
Another entry by BigBlue Shoe on why Davis may have been released by Indy:
"Unfortunately, Buster didn't play well when he was handed the starting MLBer spot when Gary Brackett went down in the last few weeks of the 2008 season. He played even worse in the playoffs against San Diego."
Davis was signed to a NFL minimum deal and will most likely back up DeMeco Ryans in the middle.
