It's hard to believe it's been nearly a year since Dunta Robinson injured his knee in a most hideous way during the Texans 2007 Week 9 game at Oakland.

Remember that one?

The Texans broke a three game skid, riding the Dayne Train to victory in Sage Rosenfels' third career start.

Unfortunately the win was costly for the Texans who lost their star corner that was most likely on his way to a Pro Bowl - in his contract year.  Talk about bad timing.

With all the pain and agony of rehab (see photo at right from training camp in July)  I'm sure Dunta - it's pronounced DON-tay to you foreigners - feels like it's been more like a lifetime than a measly 347 days or whatever it is since he strapped on the pads for real.

In his Monday presser, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said they will work Dunta in slowly on Wednesday and Thursday and then see where he's at before making a roster decision.

We’ll put him in a competitive environment on Wednesday. Whether that’s scout team or however we do that, we’ll see how he comes out of that. We’ll work him Thursday probably on a limited role with the defense. I think by Thursday, evening we’ll have a good idea of whether or not he’s ready to play some this week.”  - Gary Kubiak on Robinson's status

If the Texans activate Robinson off Reserve PUP, they will have to make a roster move.  They are numbers heavy at defensive line with 10 and running back/fullback with 6 but my best guess is that Darius Walker goes back to the practice squad for the 900th time.

By the way, Earl Cochran always gets mentioned when people talk about the injury but if you watch the replay, Morlon Greenwood was the other half of the vise that ripped D-Rob's hammy off the bone, among other things.

Hopefully 23 will have no ill effects from his first real contact this week and is able to get back into game action.  The secondary certainly needs him and everything he brings to the game.
