For some of us, it's the last weekend for corn dogs, cotton candy and, if you're in Iowa, pork burgers.
But that's all child's play compared to what's cooking in Texas this week. Had your deep fried Twinkie, or Coke? Well, this year belly up to a stick of deep fried butter. That's 810 calories before the crispy coating and deep frying. Nice. Deep fried butter is the star of this year's Texas State Fair, along with deep fried peaches and cream. No wonder that the Texas state government worries over health and economic ramifications of the state's obesity crisis.
To be fair, Texas isn't the first to dream up frying lumps of butter as a treat. Southern chef Paula Deen has been deep frying butter for some time, to rave reviews.

If deep fried butter wasn't enough of a chuckle for your holiday weekend, remember this one?
