Last night (Tues 10/20), the RPG Chicago meetup group held its first GM Clinic - "How to keep the action moving". Patrick Benson of Gnomestew.com moderated the discussion, which was attended by 11 people. It was held at the Hops & Barley tavern at Montrose and Milwaukee.

There was a very interested and active audience. Patrick spoke for roughly an hour on various aspects of keeping "combat" from being boring, but he really covered a wide swath of game scenarios. Patrick looks at activities from the scale of "social" on one end and "system" on the other end. His various tips and tricks covered the range from "What is affecting your players outside the game" to "Is the system you're using right for you." There were anecdotes and tips from the audience as well.

Nate Scheidler, organizer of RPGChicago.com, also treated the participants to free samples of the Jones D&D Soda. Thanks Nate!

The next GM Clinic is "to be scheduled" - if you have any suggestions or would like to run a clinic, visit the RPGChicago.com calendar and suggest an idea.
