National RPG News
Wizards of the Coast (WotC) was in the news several times this week. First, their Brand Manager, Scott Rouse, has resigned. He was a key player in WotC's decisions (and improvements) to their licensing and marketing of the 4th edition of D&D. Many in the community have expressed that he'll be missed as a positive voice in RPG community relations.
WotC also was in the news for reaching 6 digit settlements with two defendents in a piracy case over the 4th edition Players Handbook. Two defendents have pledged to pay $100,000 and $125,000 each, and a third may get a default judgement. Those were expensive books indeed.
And finally, a followup from a "strange/whimsical news" item back in July. ENWorld is reporting on a letter received from Gail Gygax regarding the Gary Gygax statue:
While I can't tell you all the details of the memorial - if approved - will be great - the few people that know the concept are wild about it - so I am excited.
For those of you going to GaryCon in March 2010, I'm sure this will be a huge topic of discussion.
