CBS News moments ago projected Barack Obama as the winner.
I'm channel surfing the TV reports, and I heard a Fox News pundit predicting that Obama may win up to 370 electoral votes, perhaps setting a modern record.
If Republican bastion Fox News makes that kind of prediction, sounds to me like even the GOP now concedes defeat, however reluctantly.
John McCain is expected to make his concession speech in Phoenix, Arizona, within the next few minutes.
Barack Obama is expected to appear in Chicago's Grant Park for his victory speech in about a half hour. More than a half million supporters await him there.
This is an historic night, folks. What's next?
With the Democrats in control of the White House, the House of Representative and the Senate, perhaps with enough Senate seats to block the GOP fillibusters that kept Democrats powerless in the Senate for the past two years, now the Democrats finally can get some public work done for common good.
Our job now is holding the Democrats' feet to fire. Vigilance is the price of liberty.
