The National Dog Show Presented by Purina has become a holiday tradition for Thanksgiving Day family television viewing. Featuring over 160 breeds of man’s best friend, this year’s broadcast will have a therapy dog theme centered on 2005 National Dog Show and 2006 Westminster Best in Show Champion Rufus. America’s #1 ranked show dog, a Scottish Terrier named Sadie, is entered in the show.
Three new breeds will also be making their national television and major competition debut as the AKC has welcomed The Irish Red and White Setter, Norwegian Buhund and Pyrenean Shepherd.
The National Dog Show Presented by Purina airs on NBC on Thanksgiving Day immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (12pm-2pm in all time zones). This is a great family event that is more than just dogs parading around. The show will be educational as well as entertaining. This is a must-see for all dog folks.
Rufus, the greatest Colored Bull Terrier in dog show history, will represent The National Dog Show Presented by Purina® and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia as Canine Ambassador for the annual shows this November 14 and 15. Rufus has retired from the show world to work as a therapy dog, interacting with kids and adults alike at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and animal rescue leagues.
