India: L.K. Advani, as leader in the BJP called publicly for open discussion on inter-faith issues from the town of Guwahati.
This morning's comments came in light of a multi-faith meeting between the BJP and local church leaders of such religions as Shillong, Islam, Hinduim, Buddism and Christianity. The inter-faith concern was brought on by recent violence against Christians in the area.
Mr. Advani stated that: "Let the people belonging to all religious communities consciously strengthen the bonds of Indianness that tie us together in the larger interest of national community."
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the largest political party in India.
