Scammers exploiting timeshare owners frustrated by the poorly developed secondary market aren’t limited to the United States.

The UK Mirror reports a woman so desperate to sell, she traveled to Spain to meet a buyer ready to pay £ 19,000 (app $27,000US) for her timeshare.

Once she arrived the woman, who had a history of health problems, had been subjected to a five hour high pressure sales pitch, ultimately spending thousands for a vacation club membership.

An investigation and raid by British police has led to numerous arrests on fraud charges. The woman in the particular story has been told her credit card charges will be reversed.
