Let me be the first to congratulate you on surviving another year of mind-numbing NFL pre-season football. Made worse for Titans fans because of the additional game against Buffalo in the Hall of Fame Game about a month ago.
But now that the rookie show is over, rosters have been cut, practice squads have been formed and starting quarterbacks have been named, it’s time for real-life football. And not a moment too soon.
The Titans head to Pittsburgh to kick off the NFL season at Heinz Field this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (CDT).
Most people will recall the end of the Steelers/Titans game last year when LenDale ‘no más Patrón’ White stomped on a Terrible Towel after the Titans rolled over the Steelers 31-14 in week 16. However, I prefer to remember the pride of the Steel City collapse like a rusty Erector set under two Ben Roethlisberger interceptions (of four total turnovers) including an 83-yard return for a touchdown courtesy of Michael Griffin as seen in the video below.
Before those two interceptions, Roethlisberger had completed an impressive 131 passes without an interception.
The Steelers are hacked off at the Titans for embarrassing them last year (which I believe they rectified with a Super Bowl victory) but Pittsburgh’s 2009 club will likely want to royally humiliate the Titans this year on their own turf with their own fans behind them.
I’m not going to recap for you why the Titans are better or worse than last year because you (should) already know after watching the pre-season games – that’s what they’re for, right? I’m also not going to even attempt an educated guess at the outcome of this game…much too volatile and emotional (Titans by no more than three), but I will say that it will almost certainly be the best season opener we’ve seen since Heinz started making ketchup.

Good morning, I would like to apologize to the Nashville community for not using my turn signal this morning as I was turning onto 21st Avenue. I know …
