Former Titans quarterback Steve McNair’s oldest son, Steve Jr. has elected to play college football at the University of Southern Mississippi, the alma mater of NFL quarterback Brett Favre.

McNair Jr. is a senior wide receiver at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and drew Division I attention from the likes of Ole Miss, West Virgina, Nebraska, and Mississippi Sate among others.

USM offensive coordinator and wide receivers’ coach Darrell Wyatt recruited McNair Jr., a three star recruit, and the announcement was made yesterday.

According to Scout.com, McNair Jr. caught 58 passes for 962 yards and eight TDs his junior year.

Favre and the late McNair, Sr. shared the same agent, Bus Cook, who lives and practices in Hattiesburg. Cook also represents Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
