The Titans today were not that at all, but mere mortals in the land ruled by Favre.

Penalties turned out to be the giant that slayed the dragon – eight for 60 yards compared to the Jets’ three for 27 yards. But Head Coach Jeff Fisher said many things contributed to the loss, indicating that the offensive, defensive and special teams performance isn’t exactly what he had in mind.
It seems that the Titans defense is starting to wear down. Strange since Kyle Vanden Bosch has just returned, rested and (hopefully) healthy from a groin injury. The Titans defense allowed more than 400 yards of total offense – 217 of them passing from Favre who recorded a very nice 103.6 passer rating, completing 25 of 32 passes.   From where I was sitting, it looked like Titans DT Albert Haynesworth got WORN OUT by Alan Faneca and D’Brickashaw Ferguson on the line.
The Jets are really hot right now, riding a five game win streak at 8-3. Unfortunately for Tennessee, they have a short week. Their next game is at Detroit on Thursday, giving them only three days to prepare.
I bet Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger would have loved to have beaten the Jets. He was the Jets OC prior to his two years in Denver. Heimerdinger hated New York and when they passed him over for the head coaching position and hired Eric Mangini, he bolted and took a job as assistant head coach with his college buddy Mike Shanahan.
So back to the game. Titans lose, it was bound to happen eventually and as a colleague of mine says, “If you’re gonna suck, suck big.” And who better to lose to than a really hot team with a phenomenal quarterback and a strong record.
The Titans need to put this one in the rearview ASAP, because with only three days to prepare for the Lions, they risk dropping another one. Wait, what am I saying? This is the 0-11 Lions we’re talking about. So never mind. Three days should be plenty.
