Have you heard talk about Kindle as a kitchen tool and couldn't quite get your mind around the concept of using this pricey wireless reading device in the midst of all those flying vegetables?
Here's a chance to try cooking with Kindle to see if it works for you. The Cook's Illustrated How-to-Cook Library: An illustrated step-by-step guide to Foolproof Cooking is free for download to Kindle or Kindle for iPhone.
I was pleasantly surprised by the formatting. Even the fine-lined illustrations show up well. The only negative reaction I've heard is that the recipes don't include enough "healthy eating" options. It's hard to please everyone with one cookbook. But, this is only the first of what lots of Kindle cooks believe will be a series of books from the editors of Cook's Illustrated. So, maybe there's hope for the disappointed among us.
Download The Cook's Illustrated How-to-Cook Library for free, but be careful with Kindle in the kitchen. I haven't actually been brave enough to try using it while cooking, given all the disastrous scenarios (involving oil, water and eggs) that I can envision. Maybe you're more adventurous.
In any case, this book offers some really interesting reading about cooking and food in addition to the recipes.
Please note: Because of the large file, this book may take longer than normal to download.
