Baseball-loving dads need this book now. It's the perfect gift any time, but to receive it at the start of baseball season--well, it doesn't get any better than that. The third edition of The Dickson Baseball Dictionary by Paul Dickson, previously published in 1989 and 1999, is the book for every baseball fan.
I admit it's pretty overwhelming. This is one big book, weighing in at just over 4 pounds and 1008 pages. But, on closer examination, if you focus on one entry at a time, you'll be hooked, and so will your dad.
From the book description: "More than twenty-five years in the making, with the help of more than three hundred baseball and lexical experts, this new edition is expanded by more than thirty percent to over 10,000 terms with 18,000 individual entries."
Check it out on Amazon or download it to your Kindle. Don't forget, you're looking at this for your dad. But go ahead and get yourself a copy, too. I won't tell, if you won't.
