Lessa Randall is a "Laughing Moon Girl", one of several players in author Todd VanHooser's roleplaying game set in the world of his fanasy novel. The girls show up at conventions, in costume as their characters, to support Todd, his novels and his game.

How did you get into roleplaying gaming?

When i was around 12 years old I would watch my brother. and his friends play D&D, and eventually created my own character and began gaming.

Besides Todd's game, The Laughing moon Chroinicles, do you currently play any other games?

I currently only play Laughing Moon, but i have recently decided that in future cons i definately want to play at least one other game besides Laughing Moon. i am open to suggestions from gamers.

What exactly is a Laughing Moon Girl, and how did you become one?

A Laughing Moon Girl is a girl tha'ts dedicated to getting the word out about this new fantasy series, and drawing in a younger crowd. After reading Todd Vanhoosers first book The Barren 12 I fell in love with the series and asked him if i could attend the first convention in costume to support his book. After that I began designing my own costumes, doing photoshoots for the book, and inviting other girls to join our Laughing Moon Family.

What's the worst part of being a Laughing Moon Girl?

Well....the worst part about it is overcoming the expectation that I won't know anything about fantasy and I wont talk to gamers. Or they wont talk to me because they're shy. In truth im a great big nerd at heart, and love meeting new gamers. I hope people overcome their shyness, because we prabably have a lot more in common then they think.

The only other bad thing for is washing off the purple body paint after day two, because then I have to clean out the shower.

What's the best part of being a Laughing Moon Girl?

Dressing up, attending Cons, and getting to game all day with my Laughing Moon family.
