Freekibble.com, a website dedicated to providing homeless dogs with nutritious meals, is hosting a special online event on Thursday, November 5, 2009. During Freekibble Hi-5, five times the normal amount of kibble (50 pieces) will be donated to shelters for each person that plays Bow-wow trivia. It’s free and easy to participate. You don’t even have to answer the trivia question correctly; just take a guess at the answer and you will provide 50 pieces of kibble to dogs in need.
The brainchild of 12-year-old Mimi Ausland, freekibble.com has donated over 1,779,084 meals to homeless dogs and cats (freekibblekat.com) since its launch in April 2008. This food has been donated to thirteen shelters monthly, with additional large one-time donations to over 60 shelters across the country. People from 137 different countries support Mimi’s vision by participating in Bow-wow trivia.
Despite this amazing accomplishment, freekibble receives hundreds of emails from shelters and rescue groups in need from around the country asking for help feeding their dogs and cats. In an effort to raise even more meals for shelter dogs and cats, Mimi came up with the Freekibble Hi-5 event. The goal is to generate 5 million pieces of kibble on November 5. In addition to a $20,000 donation that was presented to Mimi and Freekibble on The Ellen Show, Halo Pets is sponsoring the Hi-5 event.
You can help Mimi get the word out so she can reach her goal of 5 million pieces of kibble. Visit freekibble.com and send an e-card to your friends and family encouraging them to try out Bow-wow trivia on freekibble.com during the Freekibble Hi-5 event. Be sure to visit freekibble.com and support a young woman who is showing kids and adults that one person can make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs.
