Summer may be over but that doesn’t mean that you have to wait until next year to take a vacation. How about taking a vacation with your dog? You don’t have to travel far, or spend a lot of money, to experience a great vacation with your favorite four-legged companion. Check out Kamp K9 at The Lodge At Blue Lakes, in Upper Lake, Lake County, just off of highway 20.

This all-inclusive weekend will take place November 6, 7 and 8, 2009. The event will begin with a wine and appetizer reception and a campfire mixer. Pack a towel, backpack and grab a provided box lunch for a hike with your dog at Lake Mendocino on Saturday. Other weekend activities will include afternoon crafts, kayak excursions and swimming with your dog and a sunset pontoon boat cruise.

Appointments can be made with your camp reservation for a portrait session with Diane Davis. In addition, author Martha Steward will be on hand for a book signing of her newly released book “Darby’s Story: Life of an Adopted Dog” on Saturday, November 7. Rates for Kamp K9 begin at $249 (double occupancy) but there are only four available rooms left so make your reservation now for this inaugural event at The Lodge at Blue Lakes. For more information, or to make a reservation (The Lodge at Blue Lakes is dog friendly year round, not just during Kamp K9), visit www.TheLodgeAtBlueLakes.com or call 707-275-2181.
