Dining 101: Seven great spots for Sunday brunch on the water in the San Francisco Bay Area

Here are seven (as in Seven Seas)  restaurants with docks where you can take friends and family for a special Sunday brunch in your boat. Reservations are highly recommended.

The Doubletree Hotel, Berkeley Marina, 510-548-7920. The hotel does not have its own dock, but there are guest docks available in the Berkeley Marina.  Call the Marina on your way in to be guided to a guest spot: 510-981-6745.

The Grand Island Mansion.  This Italian Rennaissance villa built in 1917 is the largest private estate in The Delta. It has a Champagne Sunday brunch from 10:30 until 2 pm, inclduing a tour of the mansion.  Reserverations (916) 775-1705.

The Point, on the Sacramento River at Rio Vista, 707-374-5400.  Offers a traditional Champagne Sunday Brunch from 10 am to 1 pm, with a full omelet bar and fresh-baked cinnamon rolls.

Quinn’s Lighthouse, Oakland Estuary, 510-536-2050. Quinn’s serves brunch from 11:30 ‘til 1:30.

The Ryde Hotel, on the Sacramento River at Walnut Grove, 916-776-1318. The hotel was built in 1927 as a stop for riverboats.  There was a speakeasy in the basement complete with hot jazz.  In the 80's it was Delta rock 'n roll hangout. It offers a lavish Sunday Champagne brunch buffet. 

Sam’s Anchor Café, Tiburon, 415-435-4527. Brunch is served from 9:30 ‘til 2. Sam’s bar mises uo the best Ramos fizz in Northern California.  There is a live cam on Sam's website so you can check the weather before you go.

The Seafood Peddler, located at the end of the San Rafael Canal, 415-460-6669. A Sunday Champagne Brunch is served from 11:30 ‘til 3.
