
In the very early dark hours of the morning, Tuesday, November 10, the rigid wing for BMW Oracle Racing’s BOR 90, the Golden Gate Yacht Club's America’s Cup challenger, moved out of its assembly tent in San Diego and was installed on the trimaran’s hull. Sea trials were underway in the afternoon, tracked by Fox 5 live web cam. This is one case where the adjective “awesome” is apt. See additional photos in the slide show below. In New York City
Agreement between Societe Nautique de Geneve and the Golden Gate Yacht Club reportedly has been reached about the venue for the 33rd America’s Cup match. It will be held in Valencia, Spain, beginning February 8, 2010. Apparently, SNG has abandoned its efforts to hold the match in the United Arab Emirates or Australia.
In Nice France
The first good weather for the Louis Vuitton Nice regatta broke Tuesday morning, after days of fluky to no wind. BMC Oracle Racing’s team won its two matches against the British and French/German teams.
The Emirates Team New Zealand also won its one match Tuesday, and now leads the first Round Robin with four wins.
The American team is to race on Wednesday against the British Team Origin. The Kiwis will race againt the Swedish team, Artemis.
November 11 update: USA lost its match to Team Origin, which led by one minute at the first mark and increased the lead through Mark 3 to finish 2:01 ahead of BMW Oracle. The USA team will have three races on Wednesday , the first against undefeated Emirates Team New Zealand, then the Russian team Synergy, and the Swedish team Artemis.
