Teams were dissolved and it was time for all 6 players to fend for themselves on the April 9, 2009 episode of Hell's Kitchen. For their first challenge they had to make any dish of their choosing using 14 ingredients that were provided to them. The best dish would win a trip to San Francisco with Chef Ramsay, an exciting prize for these aspiring chefs who are just dying for any personal time with Chef Ramsay. For the first time, many of the contestants impressed Ramsay and he said "delicious" quite a bit making it a complete toss-up for who would win this one.

It came down to Ben and Danny which was surprising since Ben was almost eliminated last week. Even more surprising is that Ben won the challenge. Ben invites Robert to come along on the win while the rest of the contestants have to prep the kitchen as well as deal with delivery trucks all day.

In the middle of another bad dinner service, Chef Ramsay tells Andrea to get out (in his own words) right in the middle of service because she has no idea what she's supposed to be cooking. This seems to be the season for people getting fired right from the kitchen since the same thing happened to two other contestants this season, Lacey and J. However, Jean-Philippe gives her a pep talk and tells her to go back in the kitchen and fight for her spot.
Chef Ramsay got in Giovanni's face for the first time and it seemed like after weeks of great work, this star was starting to fall. Paula and Ben were targeted by Chef as well and it seemed no one was shining tonight. However, nothing was as surprising as when Robert got burned badly by a hot tray Giovanni had left in the fridge. Things just went down hill from there and it was hard to believe these 6 even made it to the finals.

Paula was chosen as the best of the worst and tasked with picking 2 players to be up for elimination. She ended up choosing Giovanni and Andrea as the two worst of the night. Ultimately, the decision is up to Chef Ramsay and Giovanni was sent packing, saving Andrea for another day.
Although the show would usually end here, tonight's episode had another last minute surprise. Chef Ramsay decided that these final 5 were so bad they can't possibly win and he announces he's shutting down Hell's Kitchen.... unless the contestants can prove themselves. We'll have to wait until next week to see what happens! Is this just a way to shock the contestants back on track? Or would Chef Ramsay really shut down Hell's Kitchen without choosing a winner? Tune in next week to find out.
