Marcus vs. Will

About a Boy is a quirky British film starring Hugh Grant as Will Freeman. Its a very basic story about a guy that learns a way to meet new short term girlfriends. He poses as a single father meeting single mothers getting them in the sack eventually. From one of these new relationships he meets a woman and her daughter, and there he meets a 12 year old kid, Marcus. Gradually, Will and Marcus become friends, and as Will teaches Marcus how to be the hip kid, Marcus helps Will to be a little more responsible.

Maybe its my fascination with English films but I loved this movie. It was gentle but still had rocky moments that were enjoyable. The movie is based on Nick Hornby's best selling novel, also titled About A Boy.

Hugh Grant does well as the ever lovable Will, and he is the star vehicle of this buddy movie. There is a well done scene where Will is confronted with having a 12 year old boy as a friend and it is very laughable to watch and remember.
