Earlier today we learned that NBC is considering cutting back on prime-time programming.
Make no mistake, though this decision may have been heightened by the current economic downturn, NBC, CBS and ABC have been losing viewers for years. The Internet, an endless array of cable outlets, busier work and personal lives, not to mention weak mainstream television choices over the years have all contributed to this downward trend for the networks.
In late breaking news we just also learned that Jay Leno may get the 10pm EST time slot on NBC, Monday through Friday. If this indeed happens, this will change everything. Productions costs will be lessened for NBC, as will other business operating expenses.
How long do you think it will take CBS and ABC to follow suit? I give them a New York minute!
