You can smile to!

There is an old adage; one man's bad news is another man's opportunity. As it relates to this article, this translates to; for every downturn, there is a ton of entrepreneurs waiting to seize the day!

Las Vegas, like many other cities that feature gaming are crying in their chips these days with at least one exception. Steve Wynn is opening up a luxurious hotel-casino on the Vegas strip called "Encore."

Under normal conditions Mr. Wynn's decision to open up a new facility would not be as newsworthy as it is today. With the economy being challenged by market conditions as well as our elected leaders and the "talking heads", these are not "normal conditions." When someone of Mr. Wynn's stature spends $2.3 billion dollars to open up a new hotel-casino, you pay attention.

Throughout history some of the most successful entrepreneurs are the ones who rode the situation out, and/or who seized opportunities. I also appreciated a "Top 10" list that my colleague Guy Kawasaki posted in October of this year, it is worth the read!

Seems to me like we need a lot more people like Steve Wynn, Guy Kawasaki and yours truly, center stage, versus the doom and gloom types who seem to have forgotten that the United States of America is still the best country in the World, and the place where someone with a dream can be as successful as they choose to be!

Self-employment is not for everyone. Being an entrepreneur is also not for everyone. However, given what we have seen in the way of lay-off's and firings during this economic slump, wouldn't you prefer some more control over your own destiny?
