
If you've looked at wedding photographers' Web sites, you might have noticed that a lot of them refer to shooting in a "photojournalistic" style. What do they mean by that? Are they journalists? Is it a marketing gimmick? Either might be true.

One of the most effective ways to capture a moment, to create a dynamic shot that is part of the story, is to shoot for depth of field. By adding that depth, you bring a focus to the immediate subject while making sure that environment isn't part of the subject or lost in the background.
I took the photo on the right this weekend. While I have some shots of erosion after heavy rain that are up close and personal and really showcase the damage, this one tells a better story. (Okay, so the color isn't perfect...I didn't do a full process on this. I promise the next will be a more complete shot).
