It's the season of giving and this year it seems that more and more people are in need. While it would be really nice to be able to do, not many of us can afford to give to each and every charity.

So, what can we do to help? We can volunteer. Certainly, food pantries or dinners can use our help, but you can also offer your services as a photographer.

Call up a shelter or group home and find out if they are having a visit from Santa for the kids who need their services and offer to provide photography free of charge. You can probably make arrangements with a local camera shop to provide some free printing. Retirement home will also be happy to see you.

You can take publicity photos too, for these places and other non-profit organizations. Many animal shelters use photos extensively to promote what they do and advertise pets for adoption. Your photography skills could benefit them. The publicity photos can be of events or just general everyday things.

Donate prints to a Silent Auction. Many organizations have these going on during the holiday season (and year round) and will appreciate your offer.
