It doesn't get any dumber than this.

While skiing at Vail a man suddenly turned in front of seven-year-old Scott Swimm. Scott passed over the man's skis, and both Scott and the adult skiier lost their balance and fell. Little Scott tried to apologize, but the man grabbed him and threatened to sue him and his whole family. A few months later, the sheriff came to the Swimms' home and served Scott with papers.

According to Mrs. Swimm, Scott thought that he was going to jail and cried himself to sleep. Since then, his grades have suffered at school, and the family, who eventually decided to settle, suffered financial ruin. An exercise in stupidity!
