A love of the mountains inspired Lisa Marie Mercer to abandon a sucessful New York City fitness career to move to Colorado. Now, she's the owner of Mountain Sport Fitness and the author of Open Your Heart With Winter Fitness. Lisa has worked as the fitness coach for Ski Portillo and other prestigious ski camps.

And so it begins. Examiners "Best of" series. This is where I either make friends, or make enemies. Nonetheless, the resorts and services mentioned are the result of a consensus amongst friends, both in cyberspace and real life.  So here goes.

 

Best Colorado Ski Resort: Drum roll: Steamboat

With a gondola for those cold days, varied terrain and Deb Armstrong as head of the ski school, you can't go wrong.

Best Terrain for Beginners: Hands down, Copper Mountain

Skiers in Union Creek have an entire section of green terrain all to themselves.

Best Colorado Ski School: Vail

Vail sets the ski school standards for other Vail resorts.
