News and notes from Stanford football
Here are a few quick items regarding Stanford football that came out of the fan event on Saturday.
*** I talked to star running back Toby Gerhart. I asked him to make a definitive statement saying he was coming back to the farm for football this fall. He laughed and said “in a couple of days.”
The Major League Baseball draft is Tuesday, June 9th. If Gerhart were to be drafted high he would consider going into baseball right now. At the moment that does not seem like a likely scenario.
While he would not commit to football yet, Gerhart certainly seems to be planning on it. After school is done he will return home to train with his father before coming back to Stanford at some point this summer.
Still, until Tuesday, nothing is set in stone.
*** Coach Jim Harbaugh is taking a week off. Well, it is a week off from football. Harbaugh is traveling to Peru where he will be hard at work building houses for the week.
*** It is all academics at Stanford right now. Finals are going on for the players and the seniors are getting ready to graduate next week. Officially football activities are on hiatus, but many players are still burning off steam in the weight room and on the track.
