It has been a busy few days for the future Stanford football defensive backfield. First they get a commitment from one safety, then they lose the commitment of another, and now a third safety has said yes.
Gainesville High School safety Daunte Carr announced he is coming to Stanford. The Northern Georgia DB will be joining his teammate WR Tai-ler Jones who committed to the Cardinal a month ago. Gainesville assistant coach Todd Wofford told accessnorthga.com that their friendship was a key in the decision:
"That was a big part of it, and also Daunte's parents, like Tai-ler's, are big on academics; they're not just thinking about football but life after football. Plus Daunte wasn't just focusing on schools in the Southeast, and he's not scared to get out there."
The 6-2, 195-pound safety made 70 tackles and had five interceptions during this junior season.
He reportedly turned down offers from West Virginia, Mississippi, South Carolina and others to attend Stanford.
In the last couple of days Stanford also added safety Devon Carrington from Arizona, but lost the commitment of safety Chris Badger who decided to go to Notre Dame instead.
