A couple of items of interest for Stanford football fans.
***Until letter-of-intent signing day, verbal commitments are far from binding. Stanford football just found that out this weekend. The Mansfield News Journal is reporting that CB Courtney Avery has changed his mind and has now committed to Michigan. Avery had committed to Stanford a couple of months ago.
Avery told the Mansfield News Journal that he informed Coach Jim Harbaugh about his decision over the weekend.
"That was one of the toughest conversations I've ever had in my life," Avery told the Journal. "I was committed to them for two months and we had already established a very good relationship.”
Letter-of-intent signing day is in the beginning of February. There are always a number of athletes that have a change of heart about where they want to spend their college years.
***Incoming freshman QB Josh Nunes may some day have competition for playing time at Stanford, from his own brother! Justin Nunes is taking over for Josh at Upton high school. Over the weekend he quarterbacked his team to victory at the Beverly Hills Tournament. Justin is going to be a junior this year, so expect to see him climb up the recruiting boards for next season. Meanwhile, Josh left Southern California for his trip to Stanford to start summer school.
