Stanford football’s defense has taken a huge hit. Leading tackler Clinton Snyder has injured his knee and is out for the season.

Tom FitzGerald of the San Francisco Chronicle reports the Snyder will be replaced in the lineup by fullback Owen Marecic who will play both ways in the game tomorrow against Oregon.

Snyder was injured during practice on Tuesday when he landed awkwardly trying to defend a pass to Jim Dray. Snyder reportedly sustained a torn ligament in his left knee on the play.

The senior linebacker has 61 tackles this season, 34 are unassisted. He is the leader of a defense that is facing a huge challenge this week when it takes on red hot Oregon.

With Marecic in at linebacker, expect more Josh Catron at fullback. On defense, junior Nick Macaluso is expected to back up Marecic.
