Stanford football has been busy on the recruiting trail. Not only did they land another verbal commit for the 2010 year, they received their first verbal commitment for the 2011 season.

Running back Amir Carlisle from The Kings Academy in West Palm Beach, FL, Sunnyvale, CA said he will attend Stanford starting in 2011 marking the earliest commitment in Stanford history. As we learned this past weekend, no commitment is permanent until letter-of-intent signing day, so Carlisle is way ahead of things. It probably helped that his dad Duane is the strength and conditioning coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

Meanwhile, Stanford has added a kicker to the 2010 class. Jordan Williamson of Westwood High School in Austin, Texas chose the Cardinal. Scout.com lists him as the 4th best kicker recruit.

As reported in the Palo Alto Weekly, Williams told Scout.com he liked what he saw when he visited Stanford;

"I liked the campus and loved the weather. And my mom wanted to go there when she was in high school. She got in but, couldn't go due to finances. So I heard a bunch of great things about them a long time ago. It also provides me with great academic opportunities. I want to go pro in football but, if I don't, I want to have something to fall back on academically. Stanford is great for that."

Williams brings the number of recruits verbally committed for 2010 back up to 17 afterCourtney Avery decommited this past weekend.
