It's almost ridiculous that we live in a tropical paradise and still we go under the weather with the flu every now and then. Makes you wonder, but that's not the subject here. It will depend on your tolerance of the symptoms and how hard they are hitting you, if you decide to take medicines that alleviate the cold or flu. I try real hard to abstain from taking these, especially because all they do is hide the symptoms but they do absolutely nothing to shorten or cure the condition.
So here's how you prepare The Holistic Soup, you can add anything you may like, but don't break the instructions on the key components. For one person, I usually fill a large pan three quarters with water, bring it to boiling point and then throw in at least:
- 1 Chicken Breast (has to be with skin, it's the fat that is believed to help with the cold, this does not have to be eaten)
- 1 large minced onion (any color)
- 3 tablespoons or cloves of garlic
- 3 ginger fingers (or equivalent in size) grated and chopped
- 1 diced Jalapeno (or hot pepper equivalent)
- 1 Lime, grate the outer peel and squeeze the juice (both) in the soup
*For substance or flavor you can add potatoes, angel hair, rice, scallions, broccoli, spinach, etc.
The main target is the above listed ingredients. You don't have to consume the chicken skin or fat. The fat can be skimmed away once the soup cools. The Onion, garlic and ginger have natural antibiotics; these are the guys that will cure you and directly combat the virus within 12 hours.
The jalapeno, or any hot pepper will boost your immune system, and metabolism plus it is packed with anti-oxidants.
I guess you can figure out the lime, but just in case, it heals sore throats and is an explosion of vitamin c.
Drink it in while it's very hot, it should induce you into sweating, if you nose is stuffed it should clear that as well.
Little hint, once the boiled chicken starts shredding its ready, but if you keep boiling it, it will soften the strong flavors of the garlic, onion and jalapeno.
Hope you don't have to prepare it, but if you do, you'll be ready to go in no time!
