The annual Huntsville Obedience Training Club Dog Fair will be held at Monte Sano State Park on Saturday, September 12, 2009. The fair begins at 9 am and is concluded at 3 pm.
Monte Sano State Park is on a mountain 1600 ft above sea level. There are cabins, camping, walking trails, and the Von Braun Astronomical Society's Planetarium. Since the dog fair is being held at a state park, there is a nominal park entry fee of $3 per person. Directions to the park are:
From I-565, exit 17b Governors Dr. Follow to the top of the mountain and turn left onto Monte Sano Blvd. Continue 2.5 miles. Turn right on Nolen Ave. Continue 1 mile to the park.
During the dog fair, there will be a microchip clinic to have dogs microchipped for $25 each. Microchips are wonderful tools to identify a lost dog who has lost his collar. They are very small bits of technology that contain a numbered identification linked to a registered owner.
There will also be public participation in agility and rally along with freestyle demonstrations. Adoptable pets from various rescues will be available for adoption.
Come out for a fun day with the dogs. Stay overnight at Monte Sano State Park and enjoy the beautiful vistas.
