All dogs want some freedom to play and be dogs.

Bark for a Park is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to opening off-leash dog parks all around Birmingham.  They are currently working towards their goal of raising $40,000 to build the first off-leash dog park in the Glen Iris community.  Birmingham residents willing to abide by the rules may bring their well-behaved, well-socialized dogs to interact and play with other such dogs in the park.

Purchasing a membership serves double duty by helping to raise funds so this dream may be realized and will provide the member with discounts from affiliated vendors and access to member's only events.  Memberships are $20 for the standard annual, $30 for annual plus a t-shirt, and $100 for a lifetime membership, which also includes 2 t-shirts.  Membership is not required for park entry once it is built, but becoming a member will help them to reach their monetary goal for building.

If you would like for this park to be built, please complete their short survey so they have evidence to present to the local municipalities for possible additional funding.  Currently, government officials say there isn't a need or desire for an off-leash dog park, but that is because people who haven't lived in an area with one, don't know to ask for one.  Off-leash dog parks are fantastic for owners and pets.

You may also donate to the park building fund through the website.  Being a 501(c)3, all donations are tax deductible.  In addition, corporate sponsors may join the Bark40.

Help build a great, off leash dog park in Birmingham!
