You and Fido can jump aboard one of the local ferries that will whisk you away to Mackinac Island, Michigan where no cars are allowed.
Transportation once you arrive on the island is by foot, bicycle and horse drawn carriages. Fido is welcome to join in the fun by riding along with you on the horse drawn excursions. Since Mackinac Island is a National Historic Landmark, it is well worth the time and money to take a tour and experience the history with the fully narrated adventure. You can also visit Fort Mackinac with your dog where soldiers dressed in authentic 1880’ uniforms may cross your path.

The beautiful Mission Point Resort is truly pet-friendly and its large expanse of lawn just begs for a game of catch with Fido. Many people stay at the resort with their furry companions and you are almost certain to find a play date for your dog.
Accommodations have spectacular views of the lake or garden greenery and wooded bluffs. To maintain the historical character of Mackinac Island, guestrooms do not offer air conditioners but come equipped with ceiling fans as well as windows which are designed to open to enjoy the fresh air and breezes from Lake Huron.
There are many things to see and do at mission Point Resort. The movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour was filmed on Mackinac Island and the theater at Mission Point Resort was used in the scene where Reeves character watched Seymour’s character perform. There is a plaque on the chair in the 3rd row where Reeves sat to commemorate the filming there.
The Lakeside Marketplace & Deli as well as The Bistro on The Greens welcome you to dine al fresco with Fido and you can take a peek inside The Point Apparel, Gifts and Sundries for clothing, candles or to buy a souvenir to take home.
