The days of answering the door to someone you don't know are over. The issue is that our elderly citizens are from the decade when it was impolite to not answer the door or the phone. Those days are gone as the salespeople are not from their generation and they are well aware that elders of The Greatest Generation will keep answering the door and listening to the sales pitch and many times fall prey to schemes.
AARPBullentinToday has posted a scam - alert to remind seniors to be especially aware during the summer months as scammers are out there in the nice weather, posing as door-to-door salespersons. At best, even if they are selling a product, they are usually selling products at a 300% markup.
The AARP bulletin has some good information of some do's and don'ts.
If you read this, print out the AARP Bulletin Today article and give to your elderly family member, especially if they still live on their own.
