Frannie and Al Franken

(Editor's Note: Rob Shirk, the South St. Paul Examiner, wrote this article about the Minnesota Senate race shortly before he entered the hospital. The University of Minnesota Hospitals are treating him for pneumonia. At this writing, Wednesday, July 8, he is in critical condition. He'd appreciate hearing from you!)

The Minnesota Supreme Court upheld the district court's ruling that Landslide Al Franken defeated Landslide Norm Coleman last November for the U.S. Senate by 312 votes.

The unanimous ruling affirms what has already been unanimous rulings at the State Canvassing Board recount and from the three judge panel during the lawsuit filed by Landslide Norm Coleman.

The Supreme Court did not issue an order to Governor Tim Pawlenty to sign the election certificate.

The Supreme Court ordered Pawlenty to sign the election certificate.

When Pawlenty signed the election certificate, he said that he would not unnecessarily delay things, even though he gave Landslide Norm Coleman a few days to figure out where he is headed and if he wanted to find a federal court that will issue a stay in order to put together another lawsuit.
