The Holiday celebrations are about to get underway in South St. Paul.
The week-end long celebration on December 5-7 is sponsored by the South St. Paul Parks and Recreation along with the South St. Paul Business Association and the Christmas in South St. Paul organization. All of the events are free, however, you can certainly leave a toy or food donation for Neighbors. It's a pretty good deal all around!
On Friday, December 5th, the Marie Avenue and Community Center host a variety of events for the "Holidaze" from 4:30 to 7:30. Reindeer rides, ornament making, and various Christmas treats are going to be available with the highlight being the lighting of the South St. Paul Christmas Tree, officially starting the season in South St. Paul. Perhaps some kind soul would bring some Christmas booya to buoy the festivities.
The following day there is "Holiday Shopping" brought to you by the Central Square Community Center and the Area Merchants. It's a great place to get some quality shopping done as all the stores are open, many greeting you on the sidewalk. Ebenezer Scrooge would be horrified. Humbug!
Three performances of "A Country Christmas" will be performed at Luther Memorial Church, 315 15th Avenue North at 2:00pm, 4:30pm, and at 7:00pm. Marilyn Sellers, along with the usual South St. Paul suspects of Glee Clubs and choirs, provide the music, singing, and general carrying on. Perhaps she'll sing her hit gospel song "One Day At A Time".
The tree will be lit, the reindeer are ready, and we have the "can't hardly waits" for Christmas in South St. Paul.
